A rewarding and satisfying career can be achieved when attending a radiography program. These courses usually last around two years and are of great interest to anyone fascinated by the human body. One can take the extended to four years course and they could end up with an associate or bachelors degree in radiography.

Radiology or radiography is imaging of various parts of the body in order to make a diagnosis. Many devices and techniques are used to arrive at a conclusive diagnosis. These schools for radiography have courses that help one to specialize in different kinds of radiology. Computerized tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) are two such areas of specializing. A twelve-month course over and above the basic one is available for this purpose.

The basic course of radiography teaches students the basics. These will encompass: radiation physics, pathology, radiobiology, radiation protection, imaging processes, patient management and anatomy and physiology. Throughout the program, the subjects of radiation protection and technical skills are hammered home.

The students will learn preparing the patient for x-rays and how to position the patient for the X-rays. They will also be taught how to apply radioactive materials and how to walk the patient through the whole process. Food inspection, security and how to work in the field of archeology are what the industrial students will learn.

The new graduate will be registered with the board of radiographers and radiological technologists. This will help them to get employment in a variety of positions and for a variety of employers.

Getting an advance degree after the radiography programs will allow graduates to work, specialize and excel in the fields of: hospital management, Education and Marketing and Sales.
